1997 £5 Golden Wedding Proof PF69 ULTRA CAMEO
NGC PF69Ultra Cameo
A gold five pound crown for the golden wedding anniversary of the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh, graded PF69 Ultra Cameo by NGC. Philip Nathan's obverse carries intertwined portraits of the couple; Leslie Durbin's reverse sets the crown of St Edward above the Royal Arms and Prince Philip's own. Mintage 2,750.
About this coin
The obverse is by Philip Nathan, who designed the Britannia, and carries intertwined portraits of the Queen and Prince Philip — a conjoined treatment with precedents in the coinage of William and Mary and of Victoria and Albert.
The reverse was designed by the silversmith Leslie Durbin and modelled by Philip Nathan: the crown of St Edward above, with shields of the Royal Arms and of Prince Philip's own arms below.
Mintage 2,750.
